On August 3rd, Farida Global collaborated with the office of the Iraqi Prime Minister to organize a commemorative event in Baghdad, marking the 9th anniversary of the Yazidi genocide. The event was graced by His Excellency Mohammed Shia’ Al Sudani, the esteemed Iraqi Prime Minister, and featured meaningful exchanges among survivors, government stakeholders, and representatives from the international community.
At the beginning of the conference, Mrs. Farida Khalaf, President of Farida Global, had the privilege of welcoming and engaging in a discussion with H.E. the Prime Minister. During this interaction, Mrs. Khalaf guided H.E. through Farida Global’s traveling photo exhibition titled “The Women Who Beat ISIS,” which showcased the indomitable strength and resilience of Yazidi women, destruction of cities by ISIS, and the intentionally destroyed holy sites for minorities.
To ensure inclusivity and empower survivors to have a say in decision-making processes, Farida Global, with the support of the International Commission on Missing Persons (ICMP), supported a group of Yazidi survivors and families of missing persons from IDP camps in Duhok to Baghdad. This enabled them to actively participate in the event, making their voices heard and allowing them to be an integral part of the proceedings.
